Cohiba is the most prestigious brand in the world of cigars and is the elite of the Habanos portfolio. The leaves used in its elaboration are the ultimate selection of the best vegas in the regions of San Juan and Martínez and San Luis, in the area of Vueltabajo in the province of Pinar del Río, Cuba. All the brand’s vitolas are made “Totalmente a Mano con Tripa Larga”. Furthermore, Cohiba is the only Habanos in that two of the three types of leaves that are used in their preparation, Seco, and Ligero, undergo an additional fermentation. This special treatment gives Cohiba an unmistakable aroma and flavor that cannot be found on any other brand.
Cohiba initially presented the Classic Line, developed between 1966 and 1989 with its medium-strong flavor characteristic, which would be joined by the 1492 Line, of medium flavor, which was launched in 1992 to commemorate the 500th anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the island. Later came the Cohiba Maduro 5 Line, with a maduro wrapper, aged for five years through natural processes, launched in 2007.
In 2009, the first Gran Reserva was presented, the Cohiba Siglo VI Gran Reserva, emphasizing the unique character of the Habanos. The following year, the brand’s portfolio was expanded with the launch of the new Cohiba Behike, the most exclusive that Habanos ever released. For the first time, Medio Tiempo was incorporated into its blend, coming from the first 2 leaves of the tobacco plant, giving it exceptional character and flavor.
In 2012 the first figurado was added to the permanent range in the Cohiba Classic Line with the presentation of Piramides Extra, a vitola of unique dimensions that only exists in Cohiba. In 2016, the brand celebrated its 50th anniversary with spectacular new launches: the Cohiba 50 Aniversario humidor, the special edition Cohiba Majestuosos 1966, and the launch in the regular portfolio of Cohiba Medio Siglo.
A year later, Cohiba Talismán Edición Limitada 2017 was launched, an unprecedented vitola and in 2018, the brand presented the Reserva Cosecha 2014 in the Robustos vitola, one of the most appreciated by Habanos smokers. In 2019, Cohiba Novedosos was presented to La Casa del Habano and the Habanos Specialists, in a box specially designed for the brand. In addition, each of the Habanos contains an additional strap indicating its exclusive production for these establishments.
In celebration of the 55th anniversary of the brand, three new products were conceived that the world market is eager to try: Cohiba 55 Aniversario Limited Edition 2021, Cohiba Ideales Colección Habanos, and Cohiba Ámbar, a new standard product from Línea Clásica.
