The San Cristobal de La Habana brand was launched on the market for the first time in 1999 with a range of four vitolas, whose names correspond to the fortresses located in the city, built between the 16th and 18th centuries by the Spanish to defend the square from possible attacks: El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta, and El Príncipe, the last three being the current vitolas in its standard portfolio. In 2004, the brand’s vitolario was expanded with the vitolas (however discontinued) Mercaderes, Oficios, and Murallas, which are names of well-known streets in the historic center of the city, Habana Vieja.
